What do the EU elections mean?
Not sure what different EU parliamentary groups stand for? Unclear about how your vote counts? Our display and talk can help!
You’ll get the broad view of the different groups by seeing all their manifestos together. And we’ve also each group about issues of particular concern to Quakers – peace, migration & asylum, the environment and social justice – and will display their answers.
Jessica Metheringham (Quaker parliamentary engagement officer) will explain the proportional representation system used to elect MEPs and how the different parts of the EU system (parliament, commission and council of Europe) work together to make laws.
Where? Reading Quaker meeting house, 2 Church Street, Reading RG1 2SB.
When? Wednesday 15th May, 7 to 9pm, including talk by Jessica Metheringham from 7:30 to 8:15pm.
There’ll be time for questions, informal discussions and refreshments. All are welcome.
