Chris Skidmore, formerly of Reading Quaker Meeting, maps how changing beliefs and practices over the past 350 years of Quakerism has influenced the architecture of our Meeting Houses. His book, ‘Quakers and their Meeting Houses‘ is published by Historic England and Liverpool University Press.
Quaker Premises Committees work hard to safeguard our heritage and make our property sustainable and accessible for Quaker and wider community use. Our Meeting House in Reading has recently had new panelling fitted after the 19th century wood-work was damaged by water penetration.
