Peace Exhibition in aid of Ukraine at East Garston Meeting House
We decided to organise a Peace Exhibition at the Meeting House to raise money for Ukraine, specifically for the Staryi Sambir Ukraine Support who had connections with local resident Eliska Vyskocova.
We invited local artists and school children to contribute pictures which included peaceful rural scenes, mandalas and drawings by pupils at Lambourn and Great Shefford Primary Schools. Eliska also brought pictures drawn by Ukraine refugee children from Mariupol now living in Southampton. It was very moving to see the images these children had drawn as they gave an indication of what the children had witnessed.
The exhibition was open to the public on two Sundays – 29 May and 12 June 2022. Alongside the exhibition we ran craft activities including nature mandalas and comfort dolls for Ukrainian children.
In total we were pleased to raise £200 which was spent on buying food and humanitarian aid for refugees in Ukraine.
