Quakers welcome new Reading Uni students

Angela, Quaker chaplain to Reading University, serves vegetarian chilli to students
Quaker chaplain Angela in action

It’s been a busy start to the new academic year at the University of Reading Chaplaincy. The team of Chaplains – Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Chinese and Quaker – have met and greeted new students from many different countries. They’ve heard about students’ journeys so far and their hopes and fears for this new phase in their lives. Many ‘getting to know you’ activities were organised and enjoyed, usually with the bonus of shared food.  This year Angela, the Quaker Chaplain, hosted a ‘Chilli Friday’.  Twenty or so students came and shared a vegetarian chilli lunch and found out a bit more about what Quakerism is all about.

A short Meeting for Quaker worship is held every Friday at 1pm in the University Chaplaincy centre.  All students are staff are welcome.
