At Reading International Festival…
… Oliver Robertson, a Reading Quaker spoke of the importance of a continuing Quaker voice in the EU. One example he gave was the promotion of peaceful methods of conflict resolution: these are not well understood on the international stage. He also spoke about current work of the Quaker Council for European Affairs to highlight the impact of detention and deportation of immigrants, in particular children.
Oliver’s talk was at an event on ‘Why the future of the European community matters to us all’ organised by Reading Peace Works, on 23 October 2017.
