Making waves
Local Quakers had an outreach stall at the Reading Waterfest, an annual vibrant community celebration in the Forbury Gardens, Reading Abbey ruins, Chestnut Walk and the Kennett Riverside Walk.
Some of the questions were were asked by interested members of the public were:
“Are Quakers Christian?”
“What are you doing in your commitment to sustainability?”
“What happens during your worship?”
For answers to these, and more questions, visit the Quakers in Britain website, visit us on Sunday mornings, or email us.
We were also asked “Will thee not bow to thy Queen?” by a performer dressed as Elizabeth I, to which we replied, “We have a radical testimony to equality and have never bowed to anyone”.
