Interfaith in the Mayor’s Parlour
National Interfaith Week was marked in Reading by a gathering hosted by our Mayor, Councillor Rachel Eden. Events throughout the country provide opportunities for people of all faiths and beliefs to come together, mix and learn from each other in places of worship, educational and municipal venues, and community centres.
Broadening our religious understanding can help challenge misunderstandings stemming from stereotypes, help us to appreciate what matters to different faith-groups, and build peaceful communities.
The theme of the event in Reading was ‘power and prayer’, and it provided the opportunity to share our different insights through small group discussions, pray together and come away feeling empowered.
