A religion for our times

Can religion be relevant in these times of increasing secularisation?

Some of the marks of modern Quakerism are: our religion should be relevant to the challenges of the day, that revelation is continuing, and that context must be a theological consideration.

Quaker communities throughout the world have Books of Discipline, which outline our governance and contemporary experiences of our life of faith, and are revised every generation or so.

In Britain, a Revision Committee has been set up and Friends in Reading will spending the next few months reviewing and sending feedback on two of the proposed chapters: Marriage Procedure and Nominations.

We have also been asked by Meeting for Sufferings, our executive national body between Yearly Meetings, to consider the issue of formal Membership.
