In Wallingford on Saturday morning?
Then come and visit our Meeting House – opposite the castle at 13 Castle Street, Wallingford OX10 8DL
Wallingford Quakers are now open for visitors every Saturday morning, between 10 am and noon. Local people and visitors to the town can explore our beautiful early eighteenth century Meeting House, enjoy the tranquil garden and take away information leaflets about Quakers if they wish. When arriving at 13 Castle Street, just walk through the passageway next to the cottage and you will find our Meeting House straight ahead.
We hope people will visit for many reasons; to discover a place of stillness, to see an unspoilt historic building, to stroll in the garden, to discover a little of what the Quaker way has to offer or to simply satisfy a curiosity. A member of Wallingford Quakers is likely to unobtrusively be there if you have any questions or would like a drink, but if you prefer to just sit and enjoy the peace and not have to talk to anyone then that is fine.
If you are planning a special trip to visit, do phone 01491 837 835 to check we have not had to change our plans one Saturday.
When we started Saturday opening in July 2018, we noticed people cautiously looking down the passageway and across the courtyard garden towards the Meeting House. We are pleased that, as the weeks have gone by, people have started to explore the property fully. One recent visitor was a local person who was intrigued to see what the Meeting House looked like after some years of walking past the sign on the street.
